The 1930s brought about design changes to Moorcroft pottery.  The fashion of the day being more appreciative of simpler patterns, lighter colours and matte glazes.  Waving Corn is one of the patterns introduced to cater to the contemporary design attitudes.

The impressed factory mark and the painted signature of William Moorcroft are on the bottom of the vase, as the well as the impressed mark Potter To HM The Queen.  *

9 7/8” (25.1cm) diameter, 2 1/4” (5.7cm) deep.

 

*  Queen Mary, the consort of King George V, granted a Royal Warrant to William Moorcroft in 1928.  In 1946 the title was transferred to his son Walter, allowing him to continue to use “Potter to Her Majesty the Queen”.  The Royal Warrant expired in 1978, 25 years after the death of Queen Mary.


RVP
