Victorian Royal Worcester figural chamberstick, whimsically portraying a small frog climbing an inverted lotus blossom. The upright seed pod is the candle holder.
The blossom and seed pod are gilded, against the ivory white stalk.
The English Registry number of 27580 dates the design to 1885, and the number of dots on either side of the crown on the back stamp dates the manufacturer to 1896. Shape 1088.
A variation of this candlestick is represented in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum, New York City. Accession number 1999.153.221
