Victorian era WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) silver plate and glass tray/cake stand. The silver plate frame has an egg and dart type border in which a beveled edge frosted glass insert sits. The handles are stylized open-mouthed lions. The plateau is supported on four bun feet.
The W.MF.M. stamp is the mark for WMF plus M for Messing, the German word for brass which is the base metal. This trademark was used between 1886 and 1903. The letter O in a rhombus signifies an increased thickness of silver plating by 1.5 times.
The original frosted glass insert is in good condition.
The silver plating shows some of the base metal; wear consistent with age and use.
