Vintage red flambé vase, made by Blue Mountain Pottery of Collingwood, ON.
Blue Mountain Pottery was founded by two Czech immigrants, Dennis Tupy and Joao Weider in 1947. They were known for their trademark technique of firing with two glazes simultaneously, one lighter and one darker, creating streaking patterns that are all unique. This glazing was called “reflowing decorating”. The red clay objects were only fired for two years of production, 1953 and 54.
14 5/8” (37cm) high, 10” (25.4cm) diameter at the widest.
