Product Description

An elegant Neoclassical 950 Fine Silver presentation bowl, made in France, circa 1800. The robust bowl rises from a graduated pedestal foot, detailed with a stylized egg and dart border.  The squared handles are decorated on the sides and top with an acorn and oak leaf motif.

The bowl is crested on one side only with a swan rising from a three pointed coronet.

The bowl is hallmarked on the underside with punches indicating that it was assayed in Paris between 1798-1809, 950 Fine Silver and made by the silversmith JNS, as yet unknown.  The bowl is further marked on the upper outer rim and and at the base indicating that it was assayed in Paris between 1819-38, 950 Fine Silver, indicating that it was re-assayed a generation later.

7 1/4” (18.4cm) high, 9 1/4” (23.5cm) high at the handles,

9 1/4” (23.5cm) diameter, 14 3/8” (36.5cm) across the handles.
