Antique walking stick with Chinese Export silver top, decorated with stylized peony blooms on a malacca shaft. * Chinese origin, circa 1900.

33” (83.9cm) long.

* Malacca wood is a rattan palm, native to the region around the Strait of Malacca, Sumatra and Malaysia.  The wood was known for its smooth texture and mottled appearance.  As it was lightweight, strong and flexible, it was ideal for the production of canes and walking sticks.
