Antique Minton footed breakfast cup and saucer, circa 1870-80. This museum worthy whimsical cup and saucer is painted with multiple birds, butterflies and dragonflies, flying over raised and textured lily pads. The bowl of the cup is also formed into lily pads, including the lily stalks which form the three pad feet. Themed elements from the natural world are continued with the vine and branch form handle. Impressed Mintons mark and painters mark of 51611. The cup has a fine hairline crack and there is a repair to one of the pad feet. Wear consistent with age use. The cup is 2 5/8” (6.7cm) high, 4 1/4” (10.8cm) diameter. The saucer is 6 5/8” (16.8cm) diameter. A rare collectors item, condition noted.
