Antique English sterling silver ceremonial trowel, hallmarked Birmingham 1913.  From the silversmiths Vaughton & Sons of Livery Street, Birmingham, in business circa 1888-1992.  Silver ceremonial trowels were presented to the honorary official who “laid the cornerstone” of a new public building.  Sterling silver with an ivory handle.

12” (30.5cm) long, 4 3/8” (11.1cm) wide.
