Art Nouveau Burmantofts Faience jardiniere and pedestal stand.  Made by Burmantofts Pottery in business circa 1880-1904 in Leeds, England.  The jardiniere and matching pedestal stand feature stylized yellow poppies, both in bud and bloom, against panels of dark blue.  The panels repeat three times on both the jardiniere and stand.  Impressed marks FAIENCE 2284 on both pieces.  

The gracefulness of poppies and their long swaying stems are a favourite motif in Art Nouveau decorative objects.  The jardiniere and stand are in very good and usable condition.

• Jardiniere only, 12” (30.5cm) high, 12 3/8” (31.5cm) opening, 15 1/2” (39.4cm) diameter at the widest
• Pedestal only, 27 1/2” (69.8cm), 11 3/4” (29.8cm) diameter at the base
