Art Nouveau 999 Fine Silver overlay perfume bottle, made by the Alvin Silver Company, circa 1905.  The bottle is in excellent condition, with the crest and motto of the original owner, a member of the Brown family.  The crest is a rampant lion holding a fleur-de-lys in his paw above the motto “Floreat Majestas”.  This translates from Latin to English:  “Let Majesty Flourish”, the family motto of the Scottish clan Brown, or Broun, first recorded in Scottish history in 1128.

The bottle has impressed marks on the bottom edge:

4679-2, 999/1000 FINE and the Alvin Silver Company logo.

5 1/2” (14cm) high, 4” (10.2cm) diameter.
