Art Nouveau sterling silver tyg/trophy, English hallmarked for Sheffield 1912.

From the prolific silversmiths Fenton Brothers Ltd. of South Moor Works, Earl Street, Sheffield.  The generous cup rises on a slender graduated pedestal, with three graceful organically inspired vine handles.

This unusually large trophy cup is without any previous inscriptions and would be ideal for a trophy or presentation piece. 

9 1/2” (24.1cm) high, 10 3/4” (27.3cm) overall diameter.

tyg (or tig) is a large English pottery mug with three or more handlesdividing the rim into sections for several drinkers. These tall, black-glazed, red-bodied drinking vessels were produced from the 15th century through the first half of the 17th century, peaking in popularity during the 16th and 17th centuries.
