Antique Canadian Provincial flags plate, made in England, circa 1907-13. This was the 9 province emblem flag that was used circa 1907-22. *. The plate is hand painted with a transferware border. The plate is trademark stamped as part of the National Emblems series, made by Frank Beardmore & Co., Fenton, England. ** The plate is in good condition with very minor wear and staining. 10” (25.4cm) diameter. * Alberta and Saskatchewan joined Confederation in 1905, with their updated provincial flags added by 1907. This was the flag used to represent Canada nationally until King George V granted full Armorial bearings to the Dominion of Canada in November of 1921; in use by 1922. ** Frank Beardmore established his business in partnership with John Christie at Sutherland Pottery, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent in 1900. The partnership was short lived and by 1903 the company was known as Frank Beardmore & Co., in business until 1913. | |
