Charming English sterling silver figural bear pin cushion, by H.V. Pithey & Co. of Lower John Street and Great Pulteney Street, London W.  English hallmarks for Birmingham 1908 and registration number Rd537681.  

This charming pin cushion is of a bear realistically modelled, with the body textured to emulate fur, fully articulated limbs and wearing a muzzle.  It is very much in the manner of plush teddy bears that were new to children’s toys in the Edwardian era.

3” (7.6cm) long when stretched out flat, 2” (5.1cm) high when seated.
