WMF Silver Plate Model Of A Dog, circa 1910-25

Product Details

A well-cast WMF silver plate model of a dog, possibly a Staffordshire Terrier.  The sculpture is superbly executed, showing the musculature, texture of hair and skin, face and jowls and the leather collar in fine detail.  A real treat for the canine enthusiast!

Trademarked with symbol of an ostrich in a rhombus in an arch, WMF/G, B, I/O and OX. This mark is for Wurttembergische Metallwaremfabrik circa 1910-25, made in Germany for the German domestic market.  The B is for Britannia base metal, I/O is the thickness of the silver on the base metal and OX stands for oxydiert (oxidized in English), indicating that the figure was given an aged look when produced.

5 1/2” (14cm) high, 7 1/4” (18.5cm) long.
