Art Deco opalescent glass chinchilla, signed A. Hunebelle France.
The chinchilla has a frosted finished, giving the opalescent quality of the glass a warm glow, and distinguishing the body of the animal from the platform that it is resting on.

Andre Hunebelle (1896-1985) born in Paris, was a contemporary and friend of Rene Lalique’s son Marc, seeking inspiration in Lalique’s work. Hunebelle’s career in glass is distinguished but not long. He exhibited his first collection of glass in 1927, abandoned glass designing to become a newspaper administrator in 1938, and after WWII went into film, becoming a successful director and producer.
