Heisey butterfly bowl, made with Verlys molds, American, mid 1950s.  *

The rectangular inverted pyramid shaped bowl has an overall collaged butterfly pattern,  in frosted and molded glass.

14” (35.5cm) by 6 1/2” (16.5cm), 2 3/4” (7cm) high.

* Verlys was a French art glass company that opened an American location in Newark, Ohio in 1935.  The Ohio location ceased production in the early 1950s.  In the mid-1950s the molds were leased to Heisey for a few years and in 1966 the molds were sold to Fenton Art Glass.

Verlys made in France has a molded signature.

Verlys made in the USA has an etched signature.

The pieces that Heisey made with Verlys molds are not signed, as is the case with this example.

The pieces made with the molds that Fenton bought are marked Fenton.
