Kosta Boda Hand Painted Glass Vase by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien

Vintage Kosta Boda glass Nevada series vase, hand painted by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien (1938-2018). * The Nevada series featured wildlife typically found in the Nevada desert, painted in yellow, red and green on vases, bowls and goblets. The series was introduced in 1994 and discontinued in 2000.  The vase is in excellent condition.

The vase is 8 1/2” (21.6cm) high, 4 1/4” (10.8cm) diameter at the widest.

* Ulrica Hydman-Vallien was a Swedish artist who specialized in stained and painted decorative glass.  Her education was at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack), Stockholm, Sweden.  She initially studied ceramics and one of her instructors was Stig Lindberg, the ceramic artist most known for his work with Gustavsberg.  Hydman-Vallien started her professional career in glass circa 1971 working for Kosta Boda and is best known for her humorous and whimsical motifs of snakes, tulips and wolves.  Her work was prolific and very popular through the 1980s, 90s and 00s.
