Ludovico Diaz de Santillana for Venini, “Battuto” bowl, made in Italy, circa 1960/61.  

Incised Venini Murano Italia on the bottom.

The bowl is almost round, with a subtle undulation of height at the rim.

9 7/8” (25.1cm) by 9 5/8” (24.5cm), 3 1/8” (8cm) at the highest.

Ludovico Diaz de Santillana (1931-89) was married to Anna Venini, the daughter of Paola Venini (1895-1959).  In 1960 Ludovico took over the artistic direction of the family owned business, Venini Glass.  He stayed in this role until 1985 when the company was sold out of the family.
