Finnish “Volcano” glass vase, designed by Heikki Orvola in 1974 for Nuutajarvi Notsjo.  Orvola * started his design career in the 1960’s; working at the Nuutajarvi Glass Works from 1968 on.  The Volcano Series vases were designed in 1974 with different shape and colour variations available.  Signed on the base:

* Heikki Orvola (born 1943 Helsinki, Finland) is represented in numerous art and design  museums in Finland as well as the Victoria & Albert, South Kensington, London (Glass Room 131).  Orvola received the Order of the Lion of Finland in 1984 and the Kaj Franck Design Price in 1988 for his work in glass.
