Herend Rothschild Bird Vase

Product Details

Herend porcelain Rothschild Bird pattern vase/cachepot, circa 1950s.  The flared shape vase rises from gilded lion paw feet on a square base, hand painted with songbirds and multiple butterflies.  The bird themed pattern originated in the 1850s depicting 12 different pairs of songbirds and was renamed after the Rothschild family in 1861 in recognition of their love of the pattern.

The vase has a minor loss to the painting, on then left side of the grass field.

Herend porcelain was established in 1826 in Hungary and still producing luxury hand painted and gilded porcelain.

7” (17.7cm) high, 6” (15.2cm) diameter at the rim,

3 1/2” (8.9cm) square vase.
