Salins-Les-Bains Majolica Asparagus Plates

Product Details

Victorian majolica asparagus plates, made in Salins-les-Bains, France, circa 1880-90.  The plates feature white asparagus spears presented on a bed of green leaves on a turquoise ground, with a shallow well for butter or sauce.  The border is a basket weave pattern in creamy yellow with a scalloped turquoise edge.

The plates have minor wear, consistent with age and use.

The plates are 9 1/2” (24.1cm) diameter.
