Royal Crown Derby Persian style gourd shape cabinet vases.
The vases date from the Osmaston Road, Derby location, between 1877 and 1880. At that time the company was known as Crown Derby Porcelain Co.; the “Royal” designation came in 1890. They were presented for Christmas 1881.
The side panels depict an assortment of birds, butterflies and flowers in vibrant enamelling and gilding against a bright turquoise background.
The handles are fully reticulated. There is a hairline crack in the neck of one of the vases, visible only from the inside.
