Late Georgian Set of Four Sheffield Plate Crested Wine Bottle Coasters

Product Details

Late Georgian set of 4 Sheffield silver plate crested wine bottle coasters, English, circa 1820.  Featuring a subtle baluster shape with gadrooned rims and turned wooden bases.  Each coaster with an identical swan crest on the center silver medallion *.  The copper base metal is showing on a de of the high points; what Sheffield enthusiasts refer to as “bleeding”.

The set of 4 are in good condition with minor wear only,  consistent with age and use.

5 7/8” (15cm) diameter, 1 7/8” (4.8cm) high.

$2995 for the set of 4.

* The crest of a swan on a trumpet is typically associated with the Hackford family of England.  The Hackford name dates back as far as the Domesday Book of 1086 in Norfolk, spelled in the Latin form of Hakeforda and in Yorkshire as Acheford.
