Below the gilding the bowl is intricately cut with a fine cross-hatched pattern, divided by olive shaped lenses in the middle. The bottom of the bowl is cut with vertical wedge cuts that transition into the hexagonal stem. The pattern was introduced in 1911 by Leo Moser and his design team. The etched Moser trademark is clearly visible on the bases of all the collection.
Splendid has graced the tables of the Spanish Kings Alfonso XIII (1886-1941) and Juan Carlos I (1938-), King Harald V of Norway (1937-) the royal families of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Saudi Arabia and Pope Benedict XVI (1927-).
The whole world took note of the pattern in 1947, when the President of Czechoslovakia, Edvard Benes, gave a collection to the future Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain for a wedding gift. The set was supplemented 60 years later on the Queen’s diamond wedding anniversary.
