Silver overlay decanter, circa 1940’s.  The predominantly horizontal striping is suggestive of basketwork, with an asymmetric shield suitable for a presentation engraving or monogram.  Impressed mark at the base:  STERLING and etched:

10 1/2” (26.7cm) high, 3 3/4” (9.5cm) diameter at the base.
