Product Details

Victorian silver plate and cut glass figural biscuit barrel, circa 1880.  The upright supports of the frame and the handle are in the form of wheat sheaves and the lid finial is a bumble bee.  Clearly the symbols of an industrious Victorian!

The JS & S trademark is that of John Sherwood & Sons of Birmingham, England.  Included in the symbols are a left facing beaver and a crown; the crown dating the piece within 1858-96.

5 1/2” (14cm) high, 9 1/2” (24.1cm) high with the handle up,

6 1/4” (15.9cm) diameter at the hinges.
