A superb pair of George IV sterling silver candlesticks, English hallmarked Sheffield 1822.  From the silversmith firm of S.C. Younge & Co., Union Street, Sheffield, England, marks registered 1811 and in use until 1831.  The fantastic decoration includes layers of shells and scrolls with elegantly tapered shafts.  The candlesticks are fully hallmarked including the original bobeches; easily removable for ease of cleaning.  The bases are weighted for stability and have felted bottoms.  This extravagant pair of candlesticks has all the splendour of the Regency era and they are in excellent condition.
