Barovier glass pedestal bowl with matching candlesticks, Murano, Italy, circa 1930s.  This striking design features female Blackamoor heads on the stems, against a pale quartz colour glass encased with fine gold dust throughout.

The candlesticks are 10” (25.4cm) high, 5 1/8” (13cm) diameter at the widest.

The pedestal bowl is 6 3/4” (17.2cm) high, 7 1/4” (18.5cm) diameter at the top.

“Your Blackamoor console set is by the Barovier furnaces in Murano (pre Barovier & Toso), and dates to the late 20s / early 30s. As with many European firms, this was a very popular subject matter (think Hagenauer, Goldscheider, Anzengruber, etc.…).  The popularity was driven by the opening up the African continent, and the grand tours, taken by those with means, visiting the African colonies held by many European countries.

I feel that a fair price today would be somewhere between $2800 and $3200 for the 3 pieces”
