Matched Set Of Four English Sterling Silver Candlesticks, Dated 1923/26

Outstanding set of four matched English sterling silver candlesticks, hallmarked for Birmingham 1923 and 1926.  From the prolific silversmith firm of Ellis Jacob Greenberg, founded in Birmingham in 1850.  The company became Ellis & Co. Ltd in 1906.

Fashioned in the English neoclassical variant of the Louis XVI style, with graduated and fluted columns rising from octagonal bases, with beaded edges.  Complete with the original matching bobeches.

Two of the candlesticks (and matching bobeches) are from 1923 and two (and matching bobeches) are from 1926.  One can surmise that the original owners were so smitten by the style that they ordered a second pair a few years after the first.

11” (28cm) high, 5 3/4” (14.6cm) diameter at the base.

The set of four are in remarkable condition!
