A knight in Wrought Iron, by Canadian sculptor Andreas Drenters.

Drenters, born 1937 in Belgium, was raised on a farm in the Netherlands.  His father was also a blacksmith, encouraging in Andreas an early interest in hand wrought metal work.  The family emigrated to Canada in 1951 to continue farming.  By the early 1960s Andreas was exhibiting his metal sculptures in both solo and group shows, and continued to do so for decades all over Canada and in New York state.

The torso and stand are formed from soldering 1” round discs.  The facial features are shaped from soldering a combination of Xs and Os, around a central nose bridge and eye socket holes; very realistic in its simplicity.
