Cesar Ceribelli Bronze Busts of Bianca & Odette

Product Details

Cesar Constantine Raimond Ceribelli (1841-1918) was a French sculpture of Italian origin.  He was born in Rome and studied at the French Academy in Rome under the direction of Rodolini and Chelli, emigrating to Paris in 1866.  Ceribelli specialized in portrait busts.  He was a member of and regularly exhibited at the Societe des Artistes Francais until 1907.

The busts are cold painted bronze, emulating subtle colour differences between the garments and bare skin.  Both busts are identified by subject on a raised plaque at the front of the plinth and are artist signed on the reverse.

The bust of Bianca is a depiction of Bianca Capello, a 16th century Italian noblewoman who married into the de Medici family.

15” (38.1cm) high, 9 1/4” (23.5cm) wide, 6” (15.3cm) deep.

The bust of Odette depicts a French woman wearing a broad hat.

14 3/4” (37.5cm) high, 10” (25.4cm) wide, 7” (17.8cm) deep.

$12,000 for the pair.
