Georges Omerth Bronze Harvester

Product Details

A charming gilded bronze sculpture titled “Moissonneuse”, the Harvester.  The young woman holds a hand scythe and stalks of wheat in her left arm with her right hand raised to wave at a friend.  Her face and hands are hand carved ivory.

The sculptor is the French artist Georges Omerth (1895-1925), identified by the signature and the impressed number 1764 on the back of her coat.

The figure is mounted on a round stepped red marble base, with a plaque “Moissonneuse par Omertz” (with a different spelling).

7 7/8” (20cm) high, 3 1/8” (8cm) diameter at the base.
