German porcelain service plates, made for the US market, circa 1930s.  The plates were made by Hutschenreuther in their Hohenberg Bavaria studio, using the Black Knight trademark.  They were made for the American importer Graham & Zenger, based in New York and active 1925-41.  These plates date from the early to mid 1930s.  The set is exuberantly decorated with stylized Turkish floral inspired motifs with deep burgundy, black and an abundance of gilding against a deep reddish-orange background, with gilded edges and under rim.  The set of 11 contains has 4 distinct patterns; 3 each of three designs and 2 of the fourth design (photo labelled 2).  The set is in very good condition.
