Mid-Century Modern Los Castillo Parrot Cream & Sugar

Mid-Century Modern silver plate cream jug, sugar bowl and spoon, made by Los Castillo of Mexico.  This Mid-Century whimsical cream and sugar bowl have figural parrot handles, with brass heads and stone embedded bodies and tail feathers, possibly malachite or azurite.  The spoon handle end has a figural flower bud with red enamelled stamen.  Trademarked on the bottom:  TA-01  Plateado (plated), Los Castillo, Taxco, Hecho en (made in) Mexico  207.  This style of impressed mark was used by Los Castillo circa 1939-62.  Minor wear to the silver plating, stone inlay and enamelling, consistent with age and use.

The cream jug and sugar bowl are 4 1/2” (11.4cm) high at the crest (head feathers).

The sugar bowl is 5” (12.7cm) diameter including the handle.
