Crown Dresden Hand Painted Porcelain Teapot, circa 1881-1890

Product Details

Crown Dresden/Helena Wolfsohn * hand painted porcelain teapot with Rococo inspired courting scenes, circa 1881-1890. The two romantic scenes are painted in panels, alternating with floral decorated panels painted against a bright yellow ground.  The branch form handle is asymmetrical to further emulate the naturalistic elements of the design.

The rosebud finial has very minor chips, noticeable only upon close inspection, otherwise the teapot is in beautiful condition.

5 1/8” (13cm) high at the handle,

8 1/4” (21cm) across the spout to handle.

* Helen Wolfsohn was the successor to the company started by her father, originally under the name of L. Meyer & Sohne in 1843.  The company did not produce porcelain, they had items produced for them and were decorated by Wolfsohn.

The company ownership further evolved in 1878 to Helena’s daughter Emilie, who had married the businessman Leopold Ludwig Elb.  The couple kept the name of the studio.
