English Sterling Silver Tea Set Dated 1898/99

Product Details

Victorian English sterling silver four piece tea set, hallmarked Sheffield 1898/99.  The silversmith is the prolific James Dixon & Sons Ltd. of Cornish Place, Sheffield, founded in 1806.  The tea pot and coffee pot are dated 1899 and the cream jug and sugar bowl are dated 1898.  The set is a Victorian highbred of designs; the basic form is late Georgian / Regency in shape, with gadroon borders and Queen Anne inspired raised vertical ribbing below late Victorian era repousse floral work.  The floral scrolling frames an inverted shield on both sides.  One side is blank and the reverse is crested with a rampant lion holding a battle axe, rising from a castle turret.  The cream jug and open sugar bowl have the original gilded interiors.

The teapot is 6 1/2” (16.5cm) high.

The coffee pot is 9” (22.9cm) high.

1994.1 grams total weight.

$6995 for the 4 piece set.
