English Sterling Silver Tea Set With O’Flynn Crest

Exuberantly decorated Victorian sterling silver assembled tea and coffee set, London 1846/47 and 1868.

The coffee pot and open sugar bowl are hallmark dated 1846 and the cream jug is a year later, 1847.  All three pieces are from the silversmith Benjamin Smith III, in business circa 1818-1850.  These three pieces are crested with an upraised arm gripping a serpent, possibly the O’Flynn family crest.

The teapot is hallmark dated 1868, from the silversmith Robert Harper of Red Lion Street, Clerkenwell, London, in business circa 1853-1882.  The teapot does not have any monograms, crests or presentation engravings. 

The teapot is 7” (17.8cm) high.

The coffee pot is 10 1/4” (26cm) high.
