English Sterling Tea Set Dated Sheffield 1937 With Anderson Family Crest

English sterling silver five piece tea and coffee set, hallmarked Sheffield 1937.  Made by the prolific silversmithing firm of Mappin & Webb, emulating a tea-set dated 1732 in the Royal Collection Windsor Castle.

This handsome set is beautifully hand engraved on a melon form body, with hidden hinged lids and hand carved ivory handles.  The set is comprised of a teapot, coffee pot, hot water pot, cream jug and sugar bowl.

All five pieces of the set are crested with the family motto for the Anderson family, “Stand Sure” in a sash underneath an oak tree with an X in the foliage.

The coffee pot and hot water pot are 8” (20.3cm) high,

The teapot is 5 1/2” (14cm) high.
