Victorian Birks Sterling Silver Tea Set Dated 1898/99

Victorian sterling silver tea and coffee set, made by Birks (Henry Birks & Sons) of Montreal, Canada.  The coffee pot is dated with the Birks lower case “a” for 1898.  The teapot, cream jug and sugar bowl are dated with the Birks lower case “b” for 1899.

The set is exquisitely detailed with scrolling floral repousse work, richly detailed spouts, reticulated borders at the top rim and carved ebony handles and finials.  

The creamer and open sugar have an interior gold wash.  

The set does not have monograms or presentation engravings.

The teapot is 5 1/2” (14cm) high at the handle.

The coffee pot is 8 3/4” (22.2cm) high at the handle.
