Victorian sterling silver tea caddy, English hallmarks for London 1898.  Made by the silversmith firm of William Hutton & Sons Ltd., established in 1800 in Sheffield.  The family firm existed through multiple generations and partnerships until being absorbed into James Dixon & Sons in 1930.  The navette shaped tea caddy features elaborate repousse floral and scrolling leaf designs, framing an empty cartouche on one side only, over the lower band of undulating fluting with a crimped rim at the top and bottom.  Truly delightful!
