American Sterling Silver Vase/Trophy, Circa 1926

Product Details

Sterling silver vase/trophy, presented for a Lady’s Hunter (horse jumping) competition in 1926.

The simple trumpet shaped vase is ornately engraved and chased in the upper portion, with an undulating rim, rising from a graduated pedestal foot.  From the prestigious silversmith firm of Black, Starr & Frost of New York, New York.

The original presentation engraving reads:

16” (40.6cm) high, 6 1/2” (16.5cm) diameter at the rim.

978.9 gram weight, with weighted base.

 

*The Piping Rock Horse Show was held at the Piping Rock Club, an exclusive country club in Locust Valley, New York, established circa 1911.  

Notable riders include Cole Porter in 1937 and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy in 1939.
