Canada Coin News | Philip Ashbury & Sons Trophy

Product Details

Elaborate late Victorian era silver plate trophy, made by Philip Ashbury & Sons of Sheffield, England.  The style of trademark on the bottom of the trophy (partially obscured) of Philip Ashbury & Sons under the Britannia symbol was used circa 1861-1915.  This trophy also has the English registration number of 91491, dating the design to 1888.

The fantastical trophy is ornamented with mythological figures, including griffin (gryphon) handles, lion masks and winged busts.  The trophy is engraved on one side only for the “Canada Coin News Perpetual Trophy”, with the oval roundel on the reverse left blank for a future presentation.  The trophy is functional and attractive with or without out the cover.

The trophy is 12 3/4” (32.4cm) high at the handles, 16” (40.7cm) high to the cover.

The trophy is 4 3/8” (11.1cm) in diameter at the rim, 8 3/4” (22.3cm) across the handles.
