Sterling Silver Granite Club Toronto Curling Trophy Dated 1927

Product Details

Dyment Trophy for the Granite Curling Club, made in England for retail by Ellis Brothers, Toronto.  English hallmarks for Birmingham 1927, made by the prolific silversmith firm of Adie Brothers Ltd. of Frederick Street, Birmingham.

The trophy cup is inspired by Georgian era silver with shell motif details on a simple form, with hinged shell form handles.

This impressive trophy was presented to the Granite Curling Club by Albert Dyment *, a Canadian politician and business man in 1929.

* Albert Edward Dyment (1869-1944) was a Canadian federal politician and businessman.  He was the elected to the House of Commons for Algoma / Algoma East in 1896, 1900, 1904 and 1908.  He was the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 97th Regiment in 1907.  He became a stockbroker in Toronto, the president of Sovereign Life Assurance Company and chairman of Canadian General Electric.
