Art Deco sterling silver trumpet shaped vase, made by Matthews & Co. of Newark, NJ., circa 1920.  The corporate trademark for Matthews & Co. was a scimitar, super imposed on a capital “M”.  Matthews & Co. were incorporated in 1907 and merged with Eleder-Hickok circa 1931.

The hexagonal body of the vase is beautifully hand engraved with alternating long and short scrolling panels, on a graduated pedestal foot with a rolled rim top.

10 1/2” (26.7cm) high, 4” (10.2cm) diameter at the rim.
