Product Details

Cours de Dessin (The Drawing Course) lithograph print, plate 67 *.  The subject is Lucius Cincinnatus, a Roman statesman and military leader of the 5th century BC.

The print is in a contemporary matting and framing with art glass (non-reflective).

The image is 23” (58.4cm) by 17” (43.1cm).

The framed print is 31” (78.7cm) by 24” (61cm).

* Between 1865 and 1871 “The Drawing Course” (Cours de Dessin) by Charles Bargue and Jean-Leon Gerome was issued as 170 lithographs, each a separate folio sheet.  

The course starts on an elementary level and gradually increases the difficulty of technical skill required.  The desired outcome was to produce work in a Classical, or Academic Realism style, popular in art education until the beginning of the 20th century.
