J P Kayser & Son Centerpiece Bowl

Product Details

Brass centrepiece bowl, trademarked Kayser, early 20th century.   J P Kayser & Son established a metalware manufacturing company, near Düsseldorf, Germany, circa 1885.  A product line of lead-free pewter items was developed with the trade name “Kayserzinn”, made circa 1894-1912.  Under the the directorship of Jean and Engelbert Kayser (1840-1911) the firm branched out into producing Jugendstil copper and brass items, circa 1894-1925, such as the centrepiece bowl depicted here.  One of the trademarks used was a stylized depiction of a phoenix over the name KAYSER.

The solid brass hammered triangular plateau is supported by three brass plated cast eagles, all looking to their right.  Minor wear to the plating, wear consistent with age and use.

It is a very dynamic centrepiece for flowers, a fruit bowl or pillar candles.

12 1/2” (31.8cm) diameter, 4 1/4” (10.9cm) high.
