Vintage Italian made  inlaid wood music box, with Swiss movement by Reuge, Romance line *.  The music box is in good working order, as new condition, playing “Memory” from the Broadway musical “Cats”, first performed in 1981.  The inlaid fruitwood box highlights an intricate design depicting a mandolin, oboe and sheet music with a floral surround.  The interior is lined in pink velvet and fitted for jewellery, with the original key.

8 1/4” (21cm) by 5 1/4” (13.3cm), 3” (7.6cm) high.

* The Romance line of music boxes have a Reuge Swiss movement but are installed in another company’s finished box.  In this example the box is made in Italy in the tradition of fine marquetry.
