Wilhelm Kralik * Art Nouveau / Jugendstil glass inkwell, Bohemia, circa 1900.  The base of the inkwell is white-opal glass with a mother-of-pearl iridescence that glimmers in a rainbow of colours, with an open worked brass mount and hinged cover.  The front of the inkwell is slightly upturned to hold a pen.

The inkwell has an internal clear glass insert for ink.  The brass collar is stamped GES. GESCH., the abbreviation for Geschutz, German for “protected”, as in patent protected / copyright registered.

5” (12.7cm) diameter, 3” (7.6cm) high.

* Adolfshutte Glassworks was established in Bohemian in 1815.  It was a multi-generational family business, with the business name evolving into Wilhelm Kralik Sohne (Sons) by 1877.  Kralik was known for creating high quality art glass in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil time period; producing glass objets until the beginning of WWII.
