Faience Wall Plaques

Product Details

Antique faience earthenware plaques depicting a musician serenading a courting couple with lovebirds flying overhead, symbolic of courtship.  They are of the same scene but are left and right complimentary images. The scalloped edge plaques are brightly hand painted in polychrome glazes, fired with holes for ease is hanging.  

Unmarked, attributed to France, late 19th century.  They are in good condition with surface crazing only.

17 3/4” (45.1cm) high, 13” (33cm) wide.
