Grecian Urn Porcelain Incense Burners

Derby style continental European porcelain incense burners, hand painted with roses and gilded leaves, rims and highlights.  The pair are in the form of a grecian urn, with a claw foot pedestal base and acanthus leaf and pineapple finial cover.  

Marked only with a gilded trident on the base, which is similar to Caughley of the late 1700s.  The trident is the traditional symbol of the Greek god Poseidon, representing his power over the sea.

The pair are in perfect condition.

7” (17.8cm) high, 4 1/8” (10.5cm) diameter.

$1995 for the pair.

Used in the television miniseries “The Fellow Travelers”, airing fall 2023.
